Quooker CO₂ cylinder: ordering and replacing
With the Quooker CUBE you get chilled, filtered and sparkling water from the same tap as your boiling water. The bubbles come from a CO₂ cylinder that sits inside the CUBE unit under the sink. Sooner or later that cylinder runs empty, and the question comes up quickly: where do I order a new one, and how do I replace it?
The short answer: you order a Quooker CO₂ cylinder directly from Quooker. Crowntap does not sell CO₂ cylinders. That is not a way of passing you on, but a practical necessity: CO₂ cylinders contain gas under high pressure and fall under special transport rules. Quooker arranges that delivery itself. On this page you can read why, how to tell your cylinder is empty, how replacing it works in broad terms, and what you can order from us.
Why you order the CO₂ cylinder directly from Quooker
A CO₂ cylinder is not an ordinary part like a filter or a tap. It is a pressure vessel filled with carbon dioxide. Shipping these cylinders is subject to specific rules and requires a specialised carrier. A regular parcel service cannot simply include them in a standard shipment with other products.
Quooker has set up its own delivery channel for this. That way you receive a cylinder that is correctly filled, checked and packed, and that fits your CUBE. Ordering through Quooker also guarantees you get the right original type. We advise against cylinders from other brands or unofficial channels: they do not always fit, may have a different pressure and can affect how the unit works.
In practice: for a new or spare cylinder, go to Quooker's official webshop or contact Quooker customer service. Prices, delivery times and the return of empty cylinders are set by Quooker itself. We deliberately do not quote them, so you always get the current terms straight from the source.
How to tell your CO₂ cylinder is empty
The clearest sign: the sparkling water gets less and less fizzy. First the bubbles weaken, and in the end only chilled still water comes out of the tap. Chilled and filtered water keep working normally; only the fizz is missing.
How long a cylinder lasts depends heavily on how much sparkling water you drink and how fizzy you like it. A household that taps several litres a day replaces it much more often than someone who only has the occasional glass. Many customers therefore keep a spare cylinder at home so they are never without sparkling water.
Replacing the CO₂ cylinder yourself
Replacing the cylinder is designed to be a do-it-yourself job; you do not need a technician. Always follow the manual of your CUBE and the instructions Quooker supplies with the cylinder. In broad terms it goes like this:
- Open the cabinet under the sink and locate the CUBE unit
- Unscrew the empty cylinder as described in the manual
- Place the new cylinder upright and screw it in firmly, without excessive force
- Tap a few glasses until the water sparkles normally again
- Keep the empty cylinder for return according to Quooker's instructions
Handling CO₂ cylinders safely at home
CO₂ is not toxic in the small amounts used in the kitchen, but a cylinder under pressure does call for some care. Store spare cylinders upright in a cool place, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Do not leave them in a hot car and do not drop them.
Never try to open, refill or modify a cylinder yourself. Do not use adapters to make cylinders from other systems fit either. That is exactly why Quooker's special transport and filling chain exists: every cylinder you receive has been checked and is ready to use.
CUBE filter and CO₂ cylinder: two different consumables
Many customers confuse the filter with the cylinder, but each has its own role. The filter purifies the water before it is chilled and, if you choose, carbonated; you replace it according to the schedule in the manual. The cylinder supplies the carbon dioxide for the bubbles. You notice a spent filter by the taste or the replacement schedule, an empty cylinder by the missing fizz.
You can order the filter from Crowntap as usual, together with other products such as the Quooker Maintenance Kit. The cylinder you order from Quooker. If you need both at the same time, you place two orders: the filter with us, the cylinder with Quooker.
No CUBE yet? How to choose the right system
For sparkling water from the tap you need a CUBE-compatible tap, such as the Quooker Flex or Fusion in the CUBE version. The configurator immediately shows which combinations are possible and the total price including VAT. Already have a Quooker? We are happy to check via WhatsApp whether your tap is suitable for a CUBE.
We deliver Quooker systems to many European countries. Installation by Crowntap is only available in Belgium; outside Belgium a local plumber connects the system. Unsure about the choice or the space under your sink? Send us a photo of your kitchen cabinet via WhatsApp (+32 470 53 54 84).
