Installation — Quooker FAQ
Can a Quooker be installed in any kitchen?
In most kitchens, yes. You need a power connection under the worktop and at least 40 cm height for the reservoir.
How long does the installation take?
A standard installation takes an average of 1.5 to 2.5 hours, including drilling, reservoir placement, connection, and demonstration.
Can I install my Quooker myself?
We recommend professional installation. Incorrect installation can lead to leaks, unsafe situations, or loss of warranty.
Can a Quooker be installed in a granite or composite worktop?
Yes, our installers can drill into all common materials: granite, composite, stainless steel, and wood.
What do I need for a Quooker installation?
You will need: an earthed socket under the worktop (within 1 meter), a cold water connection with a stopcock, and at least 25 cm of free space for the smallest reservoir.
Does the power supply for a Quooker need to be adapted?
In most cases, no. A standard 230V socket is sufficient. For the COMBI+, we recommend a separate 16A circuit due to higher peak power requirements.
Can a Quooker be installed in an island kitchen?
Yes, provided there is a power connection and a water connection in the island. Our installers are happy to advise you on renovations or new builds.
How much does Quooker installation cost?
Standard installation by Crowntap costs €195 including VAT. This includes drilling, placing the reservoir, connecting water/electricity, and a demonstration. Additional work will be discussed in advance.
How far in advance should I plan?
By default, we schedule installation within 5-10 working days after ordering. For items in stock, it's often faster. During peak seasons (November-December), expect slightly longer waiting times.
Does Crowntap also remove my old tap?
Yes. As part of the standard installation, we will dismantle your old tap and take it away for recycling free of charge.
Do I need a pressure reducing valve?
In Belgian households with a water pressure of more than 5 bar (often the case), a pressure reducing valve is required. Our installers will check this and install it if necessary.
Does a Quooker work with rainwater or well water?
No, Quooker is exclusively designed for tap water (drinking water) from a public network. Using it with rainwater or well water will void the warranty.
Do I need a separate water connection for a Quooker?
Yes, for the installation of a Quooker, a cold water connection with a stopcock under the sink is required. The connection must be in close proximity to the installation site to ensure a smooth water supply. Our professional installers check the given conditions on site and ensure that all prerequisites for safe and functional operation are met. For the CUBE, an additional separate cold water connection is necessary to supply sparkling and chilled water.
Does the worktop have to be drilled for the installation of a Quooker?
Yes, for the installation of the Quooker tap, a hole usually needs to be drilled into the worktop. Our trained installers have special tools and expertise to carry out precise and clean drilling in various materials such as granite, composite, stainless steel, or wood. The diameter of the bore is standardised and ensures a perfect fit for the tap. After installation, all connections are carefully sealed to prevent leaks.
What minimum distance do I need between the sink and the wall for a Quooker?
For the optimal installation of a Quooker, as well as for maintenance, a minimum distance between the sink and the back of the appliance to the wall is not specifically defined. More important is free access to the underside of the sink, where the reservoir and connections are mounted. It is advisable to allow at least 40 cm of vertical space under the worktop for the reservoir and sufficient space for the hoses and connections. Our installers can assess the exact requirements on site.
Is a special power socket required for the Quooker?
No, in most cases, a special power socket is not required for a Quooker. An earthed 230V socket under the worktop, ideally within one meter's reach, is usually sufficient. However, for the COMBI+ reservoir, which also supplies hot water, we recommend using a separate circuit to ensure optimal performance and prevent overloading. Your installer can take this into account during planning.
Can I take my Quooker with me when I move and reinstall it?
Yes, a Quooker can be dismantled when you move and reinstalled at your new home. However, it is advisable to have this done by a professional installer to ensure correct dismantling without damage and safe reinstallation. This maintains the warranty and ensures the device functions perfectly. Contact Crowntap.be on +32 470 53 54 84 to arrange an appointment.
What preparations should I make before the Quooker installation?
Before the installer arrives, you should ensure that the area under the sink is accessible and tidy. There should be a free cold water connection with a shut-off valve and an earthed 230V socket (ideally within one meter's distance). Also ensure that there is enough space (at least 40 cm height) for the reservoir under the worktop. If you have any questions, you can contact us at any time via WhatsApp on +32 470 53 54 84.
What happens to my old tap after the Quooker installation?
After your Quooker is installed, your old tap will usually be removed. If you choose Quooker Flex or Quooker Fusion, it completely replaces the traditional tap, as it supplies boiling, as well as hot and cold water. Please dispose of your old tap according to local recycling regulations. Our installers are not responsible for the disposal of old appliances.
How is the Quooker attached to the water connection?
The Quooker is connected to the cold water connection under the sink via flexible hoses. These hoses are designed to ensure a secure and leak-free connection. A connection is also required for the reservoir. Our installers use special seals and carefully check all connections for leaks to guarantee reliable operation. All connections comply with common standards to ensure compatibility and safety.
Can a Quooker also be installed in an island kitchen?
Yes, a Quooker can easily be installed in an island kitchen, provided the necessary connections are available. This includes a cold water connection with a shut-off valve and an earthed 230V socket under the worktop. In many island kitchens, these lines are already present for other appliances, so installation can be straightforward. Our installers can assess the specific circumstances of your island kitchen and find an optimal solution.
Do I need to hire tradespeople before the Quooker installer arrives?
In most standard cases, this is not necessary. The Quooker installer can make the necessary drillings and establish the connections. However, if extensive adjustments to your kitchen or the water and power lines are required that go beyond standard installation (e.g., new line routing over a greater distance), preparatory work by an electrician or plumber might be advisable. We would be happy to advise you individually on this.
Can I install a Quooker without a CUBE?
Yes, you can also install a Quooker without a Quooker CUBE. The Quooker tap will then supply boiling, hot, and cold water (with Fusion and Flex). The CUBE is an optional accessory that additionally provides chilled sparkling and still water. Installation without CUBE is generally simpler and requires less space under the sink, as well as only a cold water connection. The systems are modular and can be added later.
Do I need a pressure reducer for my Quooker?
In most households, a pressure reducer is not necessary for the Quooker. Quooker systems are designed for the usual water pressure in European households. However, if there is unusually high water pressure (significantly above 5 bar) in your local water network, the installation of a pressure reducer might be necessary to protect the device and the pipes. Your installer can check the water pressure on site and advise you accordingly.
Can a Quooker reservoir be mounted sideways instead of upright?
No, a Quooker reservoir must always be mounted upright. The construction of the reservoirs is designed so that the heating elements and sensors function optimally when the device is positioned vertically. Sideways or horizontal mounting is not intended and would impair the function of the Quooker or lead to damage. Ensure sufficient vertical space under your worktop.
Are there special requirements for the ventilation of the Quooker reservoir?
The Quooker reservoir does not require any special external ventilation. However, it is important that the area under the sink where the reservoir is installed is not completely airtight. Basic air circulation is sufficient to dissipate any condensation and prevent overheating. Make sure that no ventilation slots of the cabinet are blocked and that the reservoir is not directly next to heat-emitting appliances.
Can I connect my Quooker to a boiler?
No, a Quooker should not be connected to an existing boiler. The Quooker is an independent system that heats and stores its own water. Connecting it to a boiler would disrupt the function of the Quooker and could lead to problems, as the water temperatures and pressures are not coordinated. The Quooker requires a direct cold water connection.
What if my water pipe is corroded? Can a Quooker still be installed?
If your water pipes show corrosion, installing a Quooker might not be immediately advisable. Corrosion can release particles that could contaminate or even damage the Quooker system. It is recommended in such cases to first consult a plumbing professional to assess the condition of the pipes and, if necessary, carry out remediation measures. A safe and clean water supply is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of your Quooker.
Do I need special tools for Quooker installation?
For the professional installation of a Quooker, special tools such as core drills for worktops, torque wrenches for precise connections, and pressure gauges for water pressure are required. Our trained installers bring all necessary tools to ensure professional and safe installation. Self-installation is not recommended, as it can lead to errors with potential leaks or unsafe situations.
Is the installation of the Quooker CUBE more complicated?
The installation of the Quooker CUBE is slightly more extensive than that of a pure Quooker reservoir, but still manageable for a professional. In addition to the connections for boiling water, the CUBE requires a separate cold water connection and a CO2 cylinder installation for sparkling water. A little more space is needed under the sink, and the installation process takes correspondingly longer. Nevertheless, the CUBE can be seamlessly integrated into the Quooker system.
Can I also install a Quooker in a basement or utility room?
The Quooker and its reservoir are designed to be installed under the sink in the kitchen to ensure short distances and efficient operation. An installation in a basement or utility room would be conceivable in principle, but requires that all necessary water and power connections are available and that the pipe runs are not too long to avoid pressure losses or unnecessary energy consumption. It should also be ensured that there is no risk of frost.
What happens in the event of a power outage? Will my Quooker be immediately functional again afterwards?
In the event of a power outage, the Quooker stops heating. However, the water already heated in the reservoir remains hot for a certain period thanks to excellent insulation. As soon as the power supply is restored, the Quooker automatically resumes operation and reheats the water to the desired temperature if necessary. No manual reset is required.
How is the Quooker connected to the power supply?
The Quooker is simply connected via a standard plug to an earthed 230V socket under your worktop. For a safe installation, our installers ensure that the socket is functional and meets the necessary requirements. When installing the Quooker COMBI+ reservoir, which requires higher power, a separate circuit is sometimes recommended to avoid overloading the electrical system.
Can the Quooker be easily removed and reinstalled later during a renovation?
Yes, during a kitchen renovation or remodelling, the Quooker can be relatively easily dismantled by a professional and reinstalled later. Dismantling should be done carefully to keep all components undamaged and to check the seals. For later reinstallation, we recommend leaving the work to a professional installer again to ensure the proper function and leak-tightness of the system. Contact us for service at +32 470 53 54 84.
Are there noise emissions during Quooker installation?
There may be short-term noise during installation, especially when drilling the worktop for the tap. However, this is a temporary process. Once the Quooker is installed and put into operation, it works very quietly. The reservoir generates minimal noise when heating the water, which is hardly noticeable in everyday kitchen life. You can describe the operation as discreet.
What if there is no suitable cabinet available under the sink?
If there is no suitable cabinet under your sink for the Quooker reservoir, individual solutions may be required. There are special base cabinets designed for the installation of Quooker systems that offer optimal dimensions. Alternatively, in some cases, an adaptation of the existing cabinet can be made. Our installers will be happy to advise you on the best options to find a functional and aesthetic solution.
Can a Quooker reservoir also be installed horizontally?
No, a Quooker reservoir is designed exclusively for upright, vertical mounting. The internal structure and the functioning with heating elements and sensors are harmonised with this vertical positioning. Horizontal installation would impair the function, could lead to malfunctions, and is excluded from the warranty. When planning, pay attention to the required minimum height of the reservoir under the worktop.
How long does it take for a Quooker to vent after installation?
After initial installation or maintenance, the Quooker usually vents automatically as soon as it is filled with water for the first time and put into operation. There may be a brief splashing water jet or slight noises until the air has completely escaped. This process is normal and only takes a few minutes until an even water flow is achieved. No manual venting is required.
Are there optional accessories that facilitate installation?
There are no special accessories for Quooker installation that facilitate the actual installation, as the system is designed for straightforward assembly. The greatest relief is provided by professional installation by trained personnel who have all the necessary tools and knowledge. Optional accessories such as the Quooker CUBE extend the functionality after successful basic installation and are connected as a separate module.
Is it possible to install a Quooker in older buildings?
Yes, installing a Quooker in most older buildings is usually possible without any issues, provided the basic requirements are met: a cold water connection with a shut-off valve and an earthed 230V socket under the sink. In very old installations, it might be advisable to have the condition of the water pipes checked beforehand. Our installers can assess the specific on-site conditions and ensure a safe installation.
Does the main water supply need to be turned off during Quooker installation?
Yes, during the installation of the Quooker, the main water supply to your kitchen, or in some cases to the entire house, must be turned off. This is necessary to safely lay the new connections without water leakage. Our installers will inform you before starting the work and ensure that the water supply is only interrupted for the necessary duration. After installation is complete, the water supply will be reopened, and all connections checked for leaks.
Can the Quooker Flex be combined with a dishwasher connection?
Yes, the Quooker Flex can generally be combined with a dishwasher connection without any problems. The Flex tap replaces your conventional tap and shares the cold water connection with the dishwasher via a T-piece or similar device. Our installers ensure that all connections are correct and leak-proof, and that both appliances function optimally. Space under the sink for the appliances should be considered.
